"My Nina" is an ongoing concept-collaboration with BARRIO. The entire project was completed by sending audio files back and forth, via Facebook. "My Nina is a glimpse into a world of neon lights, late nights and early flights, broken hearts, broken promises and broken beats. It is truly a soundtrack to modern life. From start to finish, My Nina has a futuristic sound, with references to the past and the present, while still staying completely unique and original. My Nina deliver their debut full-length for Cosmonostro with a unique & captivating sound that refuses to be pigeon-holed.
Sounding like a lost transmission from a future dystopia, a lone cyborg croons over saturated synths and off-kilter beats, lamenting an aching desire for love, fame & personal development. 'Trapped' expresses the desire to break free from the 'concrete maze' we've built around ourselves, whilst in 'For No Reason', our robotic protagonist tells us of his longing for fame at any cost regardless of why -- something that is increasingly evident in today's celebrity obsessed media culture. My Nina is a time-travelling journey of a record, transporting the listener to a distant future with present day values, told by a robotic entity capable of experiencing distinctly human emotions."
